Artificial Intelligence Lightning Talks

We're excited to invite you to a special edition of our next AI Lightning Talks from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 via Teams.

This month, our featured theme is AI in Research: Inside Faculty Workflows, spotlighting University of Iowa faculty who are using AI to advance research.

Our presenters include:

  • Soogand Alavi, Assistant Professor, Tippie College of Business

  • Ken Nepple, Clinical Professor of Urology

  • Aislinn Conrad, Associate Professor of Social Work

  • HS Udaykumar, Associate Dean for Research and Faculty, Roy J. Carver Professor of Engineering, Professor, Mechanical Engineering

  • Tori Forbes, Professor (Secondary Appointment), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Director, Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) Facility

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the research landscape, progress isn't only about new tools, but also it's thoughtful methods, experimentation and sharing what we learn. This session will feature short, high-impact talks by faculty who are putting AI to work in meaningful research-driven ways.

The goals are to:

  • Share knowledge and insights about the latest AI trends, tools, best practices, and practical uses of AI

  • Encourage collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas

  • Inspire innovative applications of AI

Whether you're exploring AI for the first time or already integrating it into your research, this event is designed to energize and empower.
