Part of HANCHER’S 2026–2027 SEASON and FIFTY FOR THE FUTURE
Presented by HANCHER AUDITORIUM
The Elixir Quartet has been assembled for the Fifty for the Future celebration by University of Iowa cello faculty member Jamie Clark. She has brought together three of her longtime collaborators from across the country.
Kala Ramnath weaves together ornamental Indian slides and microtonal glides to create one radiant melody. Aruna Narayan offers a work grounded in Hindustani classical music while Karin Rehnqvist sends a folk tune through a spirited Swedish polska. Merlijn Twaalfhoven invites audience participation, Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté revisits Malian handclapping songs, and Vladimir Martynov distills late-Romantic love songs into a concentrated pastiche.
