On Friday, August 25th, Hurricane Harvey, a category-four hurricane, made landfall over Texas, causing unprecedented and catastrophic flooding and damage in Houston, Galveston, and Corpus Christi. This past week we have continued to see the damage expand to areas in Louisiana. Thousands of people have been left without electricity, clean water, and housing. Among those impacted include members of our Hawkeye community.

Let us offer our support through action and solidarity. We encourage you all to support the victims and families of Hurricane Harvey. Below you will see a list of a few of organizations we are aware of that accept online monetary donations. Be sure to consider other organizations or aid platforms not listed:
- Houston Food Bank (http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/donate/)
- Greater Houston Community Foundation (https://ghcf.org/hurricane-relief/)
- Americares (https://www.americares.org/en/what-we-do/emergency-programs/hurricane-harvey/)
- Direct Relief (https://www.directrelief.org/)

As members of the University of Iowa Hawkeye community, it is imperative that we band together to support those most in need amongst our community, a vast community that extends from Iowa City, across the nation, and into other countries. Such action is consistent with the Serve pillar of the IOWA Challenge.

On behalf of GPSG and UISG, we send our well wishes to all individuals impacted by Hurricane Harvey. We will continue to update members of the University of Iowa community on upcoming organized local relief efforts. More information will be added to our websites and social media platforms.
