Do you want to be on the front lines of Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG)? Do you want to have a platform to enact change on campus? If so, consider applying for the GPSG Executive Team!

GPSG is seeking to fill two important current vacancies on its executive board for the July 2021-May 2022 term:

  • Communications Director
  • Sustainability Director

Communications Director

The GPSG Communications Director is responsible for recording minutes at GPSGmeetings and for distributing those minutes as appropriate. The Communications Director is also responsible for the organization and distribution of the meeting agenda as outlined in section 2.B.2. The Communications Director will attend any meetings with University administrators and stakeholders as necessary.

The Communications Director is also responsible for maintaining and updating the GPSG website and social media platforms while also distributing newsletters in cooperation with GPSG officers. If GPSG chooses to sponsor or collaborate on programming, the Communications Director is ultimately responsible for arranging the collaborative efforts around publicizing the events. The Communications Director is additionally responsible for publicizing GPSG functions and deadlines.

The Communications Director may be tasked with graphic design, video production, and other multimedia production as needed. The Communications Director may closely collaborate with USG’s communications team. The Communications Director may be designated to speak on behalf of GPSG or otherwise represent GPSG, provided that they act in close collaboration with the President.

Sustainability Director

The Sustainability Director will work in conjunction with the USG Director of Sustainability and the Office of Sustainability to support sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability Director will head the GPSG Sustainability committee, which may entail curating sustainability initiatives and ensuring they are carried out. The Sustainability Director will manage committee members by tasking each member to initiatives and tracking progress to ensure initiatives are successful. The Sustainability Director may additionally be tasked with implementing and marketing current programs, policies, or initiatives. The Sustainability Director may attend meetings with university, community, state of Iowa, and other stakeholders regarding sustainability initiatives relating to the campus and community.
