Nathan Chen

Finance Director
Biography

My name is Nathan Chen (he/him), and I am a fourth-year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine (CCOM) and dually enrolled in the Master of Public Health program in the College of Public Health. I graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.

In my time with GPSG, I have served as the treasurer of the CCOM Student Government, the CCOMSG representative to GPAC, and most recently, GPAC Director. During this time, I learned how financial transactions are handled at the University of Iowa, the rules and regulations that govern transactions, and the intricate workings of GPAC that allow it to function as a representative body to distribute funding to graduate and professional student organizations.

This is my first year as Finance Director, but I believe with the past relationships I have formed and the experience I have accumulated, I will have success in this position. My priorities for this year will be to ensure transparency in how GPSG funds are spent, utilizing GPSG funds for graduate/professional student programming, and assisting GPSG and third-party stakeholders with collaborations to further the reach GPSG has on student life at the University of Iowa.
