My name is Arinze Okoye, and I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Iowa, with a strong interest in research, teaching, innovation, and student support. 

Throughout my academic journey, I have been actively involved in both research and teaching. I have supported students in chemistry, physics, and engineering laboratories at the University of Iowa, helping them understand complex ideas in a simple and practical way. These experiences have strengthened my communication, organization, and mentorship skills. 

I also have experience in student leadership and funding processes. Since the start of my graduate studies, I have served as a Teaching and Research Assistant, supporting both instruction and research activities. In addition, I have served as a member of the Grants Committee with the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) and as a member of the Graduate Student Employment Committee at the University of Iowa. In these roles, I reviewed student grant applications and contributed to fair and structured decision-making. 

I have also applied for and received grants and research fellowships, which have given me valuable firsthand experience with the funding process. As Grants Director, my goal is to identify and promote funding opportunities while making them more accessible, transparent, and easy to understand for all students. 

Outside of academics, I enjoy working with people, learning new ideas, and contributing to a supportive and inclusive community.
