Shruthi Kondaboina

Physical Health & Safety Director
Biography

My name is Shruthi Kondaboina (she/her/hers), and I am a second-year MD/PhD student in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Iowa and currently serve as the Physical Health and Safety Director for GPSG. I am focused on building scalable, systems-level solutions that improve emergency preparedness and student safety.

I am the founder of FutureHearts, a rapidly growing student-led initiative that trains individuals in CPR, overdose response, and naloxone administration, with established partnerships across state and healthcare systems. My work emphasizes creating sustainable, student-led models that expand access to life-saving education.

Drawing on my experience as an EMT, I am deeply committed to prevention, early intervention, and practical skill-building. In my role, I aim to expand access to hands-on training, strengthen institutional partnerships, and embed health and safety education into campus culture. Outside of my academic and leadership work, I enjoy strength training, exploring new recipes, and spending time outdoors.
