Hi, I'm Aimen (pronounced as 'Amen' in Hozier's "Take Me to Church"). I am currently a fourth year PhD student majoring in Educational Leadership with a certificate in Gender Women and Sexuality Studies (GWSS). My academic journey has been diverse, from excelling in Sciences to experimenting with Economics to now being an Ed leadership student but the one thing that remained common throughout was my passion and focus on gender. Growing up as a woman in the predominantly patriarchal society of Pakistan and navigating the global landscape as a brown woman, I consider myself on a mission that ensures equity and equality not just for women, but all marginalized communities. I want the phrase "fight like a girl" – to reinvent itself, to mean the unwavering passion and effort I embody when it comes to moving towards a just world. We talk about diversity a lot but diversity does not always mean inclusion and I want to make sure that I put forth groundwork to effectively change that in society. I believe no matter how modest or small my contribution may be, the little ripples I create, will eventually transform into significant waves
