Alyson—a third-year law student at the University of Iowa College of Law—serves as the Government Relations Director for GPSG. Alyson is passionate about state-level legislative advocacy, and is excited to dabble in more local advocacy efforts this year. She hopes to focus GPSG’s legislative efforts on labor issues such as hazard pay for graduate employees, diversity and justice issues such as employment pathways for international students and rapid response programs for racial and sexual misconduct. And, of course, Alyson intends to work toward increased appropriations so graduate and professional students have the resources they need to do great things at Iowa.
When Alyson isn’t working on GPSG projects she can be found practicing in the Federal Criminal Defense Clinic at the College of Law. And, if she isn’t there, she’s probably cooking a massive meal to eat around a table with her friends.
