Hattie Frana

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director

I am currently a 3L in the University of Iowa College of Law. I am from Calmar, IA. I was recently elected to be one of the Co-Presidents of our school's American Constitutional Society and Co-Chair of the Organization of Women Law Students and Staff's annual conference. I earned my BAs in History and Philosophy at Clarke University in Dubuque before coming to the College of Law. I was heavily involved in campus ministry work, mission trips, and band while at Clarke. As the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Direction, I hope to continue the podcast that was started last year and increase awareness of the many kinds of disabilities on campus through poster campaigns and creating opportunities for dialogue between students, staff, and faculty. This lack of awareness surrounding disabilities is personal because I have been diagnosed with Nonverbal Learning Disability and a Turner Syndrome, a rare genetic condition, which may lead to further physical disabilities. While not in class or studying, I like to read, cross-stitch, and volunteer with CommUnity Food Bank here in Iowa City.
