Nathan Chen
My name is Nathan Chen (he/him), and I am a fourth-year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine (CCOM) and dually enrolled in the Master of Public Health program in the College of Public Health. I am currently completing my MPH program requirements and will return to my MD program in summer 2025. I graduated from the University of Iowa in December 2020 with a Bachelor of Art in International Relations.
Over the last two years, I have served as the treasurer of the CCOM Student Government and the CCOMSG representative to GPAC. During this time, I learned how financial transactions are handled by the University of Iowa, the rules and regulations that govern transactions, and the intricate workings of GPAC that allow it to function as a representative body to distribute funding to graduate and professional student organizations.
This is my first year as GPAC Director, but I believe with the past relationships I have formed and the experience I have accumulated, I will be able to have success in this position. My current priorities are to make sure decisions are quickly made on GPAC Rapid Funding requests and to ensure the GPAC allocation can fund registered student organizations through the spring semester.
