Soheil Hosseini

Graduate Student Senate (Physical, Math, & Eng)
Biography

Hi. My name is Soheil, I'm a 4th year PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, and I'm one of the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) delegates to the Graduate & Professional Student Government (GPSG). I'm a sociable person, and I've been involved with numerous student orgs and committees in my time at the university of Iowa, more than I should! 😃 Before coming here, I was already an ardent fan of critical thinking, and when I arrived I immediately joined the debate club. I also was the vice president of the Secular Students club. I've been a part of several other committees, including the Engineering Graduate Student Council, and I'm appointed the Graduate Student Senate treasurer for the 2023-24 year. I've also been part of many sports clubs here, from running, to swimming, to table tennis, and also a fraternity, Alpha Omega Phi, which I still hold in high regard. In my free time, besides all sorts of outside activities including skating, I enjoy conversations, creating theories and models of human and social behavior and dynamics, and generally over-intellectualizing simple matters! 😄 I'd like to become an AI scientist in engineering, and also later a writer in world socio-economic issues and inequality. Feel free to chat with me about any issues you think GSS or GPSG could help you with.
