Thank you to all who attended the Joint Session on September 11, 2018 at the Old Capitol Senate Chambers. We had a great turn-out for member governments, and we really appreciate you taking the time to come out.

On November 16, 2017, the U. S. House of Representatives passed a tax bill that, if signed into law, would place an immense burden on students working toward advanced degrees in the U. S.

On Friday, August 25th, Hurricane Harvey, a category-four hurricane, made landfall over Texas, causing unprecedented and catastrophic flooding and damage in Houston, Galveston, and Corpus Christi. This past week we have continued to see the damage expand to areas in Louisiana.

At its core, the University of Iowa is its people: students, staff, and faculty guided by the values of community, inclusion, and respect. The University of Iowa strives to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students.

GPSG is disgusted and saddened by the tragic event(s) which took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. The racism, hatred, and terrorism displayed on that day should not reflect the values of any institution and/or person. We, as a community, must stand up against racism, bigotry, and neo-nazism.

Each spring the University of Iowa Student Government (UISG) and Graduate & Professional Student Government (GPSG) solicit applications to fill student vacancies on Presidential Charter and All-University committees. All UI students are eligible and are encouraged to apply.
